PureMind is a rising nonprofit that was founded in the midst of the pandemic in 2020.
We originally started in India but have recently started PureMind in the United States with the same goal.
Mental health matters, especially when we experience trying times such as the pandemic. Statistics have shown that around 40% of US adults struggle with their mental health. In India, mental health is not talked about as much as it should be. Although there is no one solution to mental illness or perfecting one's mental health, we can all still try to do our part and take certain steps to improve our and others' mental wellbeing. PureMind was started to do just that. Our volunteers and teachers take small but impactful actions to help spread mental health awareness and try to spread positivity through art, writing, and education. Research has shown that practicing yoga and meditation can help reduce anxiety, stress, and sometimes even depression. That is why yoga and meditation are a large part of what we teach. Spreading positive messages, educating people on the different types of mental illnesses, and fostering a happy environment have also been known to decrease the stigma on mental health and help people who are struggling with their mental health feel heard and accepted. PureMind fosters a positive environment through fundraisers, guest speaker events, and monthly newsletters! PureMind aims to build a happier world, one small action at a time.
